That's Crate.

Yesterday I arrived at work and my bosses were talking to a Ewan McGregor lookalike in the kitchen. Shiela introduced me to Max the milkman, who did the whole wink thing in front of John and Shiela (how embarressment). Maybe there aren't many women in the rural channel area or my oversized navy blue polo shirt really did it for him. It must be a real hit because I got a wistle from some passing truck drivers. Shiela, my boss, has been joking for ages that Max could take me on dates in his milktruck and then I could marry him (since he's 30 and has bought a house), so the wink and the fact that my brother just got engaged must have tied the final knot in her plans.

I've diagnosed our cat Napolean as obese. No one else in my family has really believed me until now - now that he looks as almost as fat as the Bains' cat before it died. I keep telling everyone that they feed the cats too much. There'll be no fingers pointed my way when Seth finds a rigor mortus feline lying by the dam.

Random memory: It was a really cold day and someone had put the heaters on full blast in Logic, in the Arts Lecture theatre. So the Coadster, who is unemotional, serious and has a dry delivery of lecture content, says "Can someone turn the heater down?" Uni students, being such a practical bunch, are unable to navigate the controls and the room remains a sauna. The tech support lady recomends he take off his jumper (another reason men need women - to tell them to add or remove cloths when they complain about the temperature). The Coadster takes off his jumper and says "Don't worry, I won't go any further."
Funny to me, but few laughed. I also wonder what the students in the north on weblink thought. Do they understand Hobart humour? They often amused us when they made funny (to us) requests over the weblink.

Last night was Kat's birthday bash. I hope Kat didn't get too bored because near the end we watched the Goblin King, starring the glam David Bowie. The music is cool and even though we watched it on VHS (which Shaun says is "like watching an oil painting") Bowie's very sexy tight leggings are still visible. With the 80's making it's comeback, I'm supprised we haven't seen them back in. At Kat's house the girls (Sarah, Kylie and Elisha) have written the crazy things they say in a quotes book. I was quite shocked. I thought, they're nice girls, they wouldn't say things like that. Well, I should have learnt long ago that things are not what they seem.

I made perfect potato, sweet potato and pumpkin soup today. Humour me and laugh at this joke: A kanebex potato and a sweet potato where sitting next to each other in the pantry. The kanebex said to the sweet potato, "Why are you long, orange and knobbly, not round and white like me?" The sweet potato replied "I yam what I yam!" Thank you, thank you, I'll be back same time next week.

That was my own invention. Angus and I should have our own cooking show. He can make wisk jokes and I can make yam jokes... and then we'll be take off air.

BTW, All you annonymouses can post comments now - I've enabled that feature.

Seth and EMILY

My other brother, Seth announced his engagement to his girlfriend Emily. They'll be getting married, God willing, at the beginning of 2006. It came as a bit of a suprise to me, I think because I wasn't expecting them to announce so soon. Seth said he'd been dropping hints to me, and he would be correct if by hints he means "When we get married, blah blah." So I get annother sister! :) Last year at Seth's family birthday Luke and Amy announced thier engagment and I think Seth felt a bit overshadowed, being the middle child and all. So last night at his birthday doo he announced his engagment.

After Seth told the family Dad cracked open the port and we had a toast. Then dad said a prayer and it went something like this "...and we thank you for bringing Seth and Amy together..."

They're Here.

I'm playing Gregorian chants at the moment. I love them. In fact, I love all things Monastic. When I'm in Europe I'm going to visit as many monasteries as possible.

I'd forgotten how much I dig sci-fi when I read some A.C. Clarke today. Clarke like Asimov, has an unhealthily optimistic expectations of science but this makes for a good, more adventurous read. I also read Clarke for the meta-read. What's a "meta-read"? That's when you appreciate the novel "for what it is". Sort of. "Meta-read" is a concept in my head that's yet to be articulated.

What a wired day. I was home and alone most of today so I put Bob Dylan on while I did house work (I'm done so much how housework over the last few days that I'll just have to put it down to training ;)). Then I went on a run for about an hour. When I returned, I did some situps on the library floor and Dylan suddenly came back on. The stereo is hidden away in the walk-in next to the library and would make a good hiding spot for an intruder who liked to scare people by playing CDs. A smart move would have been to get up and grab a weapon like a poker or a knife from the kitchen, but instead, I rolled under the sofa bed like Tom Kitten and waited for ages. At that moment Seth and Emily arrived and it was all okay. Until...

In realised that the stereo spontaneously replayed because the power went out briefly, while I was running. As I was baking another cheesecake I heard an aircraft. Now, I'm a country girl and even though small planes and choppers flying overhead are quite common, I still always run out to see it fly over. I suppose I just love planes. Anyhow, I couldn't see the aircraft but it was very very loud and the noise was from across the valley. So I figured it must be a truck at the quarry. I went back to stirring caramel and sourcream on the stove. The noise didn't go away. I went outside and there was a helicopter next door, just a few meters above ground! They've finally come for me, I thought. I just stood, mesemorized. When aliens land, I reckon that's what I'd do. I'd be easy to abduct (that's not a subliminal message directed at you, freaky stalkerman reading my blog).

I saw the local hippie driving up the road in his rusty truck and slow down when he saw the chopper - he must have thought the police had finally come to check out his pot plot.

The story behind the chopper is really boring, so I won't tell it - surely suspense is more interesting!

Heliopter do look very sci-fi, although I would attribute that to my rekindled sci-fi obsession and overactive imagination.

Booting up...

This may be my new blog. As you can see, it is far cooler than blurty.

Last night at church the only thing that kept me focused on the sermon was the content: Matt 5 - adultery. I'm preoccupied with the necessity of finding another job. I haven't been fired or anything, but it's winter and winter means few hours. Also, apparently the economy stalls when an election is called, so no one buys anything. I'd have just enough money on wages and doing housework for mum and dad, and I also have enough money for next years trip. So why do I need another job? Social factors mainly. I just know what mum and dad will say if I was earning hardly any money and yet was planning a big trip "Do you really think you can afford it?" "You don't want to be a burden on the people you stay with." "Maybe you should rethink going on this trip." What annoys me is that they say these things as if I hadn't considered them already. I don't think they realize that I'm quite a planner, but just not much of a communicator.

Finding another job is such a hassle. I have to do my resume, contact my boss, approach businesses (I hate that part)... I think I'll try at Lazenby's at uni, which means I'm pretty desperate.

I shouldn't be fretting over poverty advoidance since only the pagans worry over such things but God knows what I need when I need it.
